Bandsaws – Semi Automatic
Shark 382-1 SXI Semi Auto Bandsaw Machine Type Header

For higher volume cutting across a variety of lengths and materials with mitring capability, a semi-automatic band saw is ideal.

Since we introduced the MEP swivel head mitre cutting saws in 1994, they have become the number one selling horizontal band saw in their class. For busy steel fab shops, this is often the fabricators favourite machine.

Our range of Semi-Automatic bandsaws starts at the hydraulic Shark SXI Evo and finishes with the massive Hydmech V-25 Vertical.

With SXI Evo saws, a simple press of a button, footswitch or squeeze of a trigger in the low voltage handle activates the cutting cycle. Clamp, cut, unclamp, head return to programmed height.

Alternatively, a vertical style saw is a fantastic option for structural steel shops where bigger capacity is required and material handling becomes an important part of the overall cost of production.

At the heart of all our Italian metal cutting band saw are the full cast iron bow and band wheels. These provide excellent stability and reduced vibration compared to traditional fabricated structures found in cheaper machines. This construction allows you to run very high band tensions (>900kg) and combined with the direct gearbox drive (no belts or pulleys) and carbide guides means you have the straightest, fastest cutting steel bandsaws on the market.

A straight cut every time reduces the requirement for secondary operations such as milling or grinding before assembly or welding, and a straighter cutting saw dramatically improves blade life and wasted time changing blades, therefore reducing your cost per cut.
